Description

Two people in a tent at 5 a.m. Only one of them is getting up. Point a white beam at the roof and you have woken the other one for the day. That single moment is why the red LED on this rechargeable headlamp matters more than the lumen count on the box.

The red light is what sets this rechargeable headlamp apart

The Sofirn H25LR carries a genuine 660 nm deep red emitter beside the main white LED, not a red filter over a white one. Deep red does not collapse your dark adaptation, so after twenty minutes outside you can read a map, find a zip or check a line without resetting your eyes. It also does not carry across a campsite the way a white beam does. You get to move at night without becoming the reason everyone else is awake.

And 90 CRI is the one nobody mentions

Most cheap lights render colour badly. At 90 CRI the white beam shows the actual colour of what you are looking at: the blue wire against the black one, the red on a bite, the true shade of the water. If you have ever tried to sort tackle or trace wiring under a blue-white beam, you know why this is not a specification for enthusiasts only.

Features

  • 1200 lumens from this rechargeable headlamp’s TN-3535 5000K LED with 90 CRI colour rendering.
  • 660 nm deep red SST20 emitter on its own channel, for night vision and quiet camp use.
  • 180 degree beam angle and a head that tilts, so the light goes where you look.
  • USB rechargeable. A rechargeable headlamp with a built-in port is one less packet of batteries to carry and forget.
  • High, medium and low output on the white channel.
  • Waterproof, rated 10 W, on a 3.7 V lithium-ion cell.
  • Certified CE, FCC, ROHS and CCC.

Sofirn H25LR rechargeable headlamp showing the white 90 CRI emitter and the 660 nm red emitter

Who this rechargeable headlamp is for

Campers who share a tent. Anglers who rig in the dark and want to see real colour on a line. Cavers and night hikers who need to keep their dark adaptation between the moments they actually need full output. Anyone who works with their hands after sunset and is tired of holding a torch in their teeth.

Where it fits

Lid pocket of a pack, glove box, tackle bag, tool drawer. It is small enough that a rechargeable headlamp stops being something you decide to bring and becomes something that is simply there. Pair it with the rest of our camping gear, or browse everything in the MAXELTI Active shop.

If you camp where others camp, the red channel is also the considerate option after dark. It is the same thinking behind the Leave No Trace principles the National Park Service publishes: be considerate of other visitors.

Care and maintenance

Charge the rechargeable headlamp before a trip rather than after one, and store it around half charge if it is going to sit for months. Keep the charging port cover seated; the light is waterproof, but a port left open is the one way in.

Wipe the lens with a cloth, not a thumb. Do not leave it charging unattended overnight, and follow the CPSC guidance on lithium battery safety.

Frequently asked questions

Is the red light a filter or a real red LED?
A real one. Sofirn lists an SST20 DR emitter at 660 nm on its own channel, separate from the white LED. That is why it preserves night vision the way a red gel over a white beam does not.

Does it take a battery I have to buy?
No. The lithium-ion cell is included and the light charges through a built-in USB port. That is the point of a rechargeable headlamp.

Will 1200 lumens light up a trail?
Yes, for walking. The 180 degree beam is a flood, so it lights the ground and the sides well and does not throw a tight spot into the distance. For close work and night hiking it is more useful than a narrow thrower.

How long does it run?
Sofirn does not publish runtimes for each mode on this model’s data sheet, so we are not going to invent them. Low and medium last considerably longer than high, as with any rechargeable headlamp.

Where does this rechargeable headlamp ship from?
A United States warehouse, free shipping.
