Wind is what turns a mild morning into a cold one

Fifty degrees on a calm morning is pleasant. Fifty degrees with a steady wind across the lake is a different day. A fleece or a hoodie lets that wind straight through; a tightly woven shell stops it. This jacket is 100% polyamide, the same family of fabric as a classic nylon shell, and it is water-repellent, so drizzle and spray from the bow run off instead of soaking in. Put it over a hoodie and the layer underneath finally keeps its heat.

The elastic cuffs and hem close the gaps where cold air sneaks in, and the hood pulls snug with its drawstring when the weather turns.

Close the zips and turn the jacket inside out. Machine wash it cold on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and no fabric softener, then hang it to dry. Do not iron over the embroidery and keep the shell away from high heat.
