Description

Charcoal or woodland camo

Charcoal is the one that goes everywhere: it reads as normal clothing in town, hides dirt and never looks like you dressed for an expedition to walk the dog. Woodland camo is the one for the blind, the bank and the treeline, where a solid dark tube against a background of broken colour is the thing that moves in someone’s peripheral vision. The fabric, weight, stretch and size are identical — the only difference is what the outside looks like.

Six ways to wear it

Around the neck as a warmer. Up over the mouth and nose against wind or dust. On the head as a beanie by knotting one end. Folded as a headband to keep sweat out of your eyes. Around the wrist as a sweatband. Over the crown under a cap for sun protection on the back of the neck. The stretch is what makes all six work without any of them being uncomfortable.

Care and maintenance

Machine wash cold, inside out, with similar colours. Hang to dry — the spandex content does not like high dryer heat, and heat is what eventually kills the recovery in any stretch fabric. No bleach, no fabric softener. Do not iron the printed side. Wash it more often than you think; it sits against your face.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the two colours?
Only the print. Both are the same 240 g/m² polyester-spandex tube, the same one size, the same six-inch wordmark. Charcoal is solid grey; woodland camo carries the pattern over the whole tube.

Is it printed on both sides?
The wordmark sits on one side. On the charcoal gaiter the reverse is plain; on the woodland camo the pattern continues all the way round. Because it is a tube, the side you show is whichever way you turn it.

Will one size fit a larger head?
The fabric has 7% spandex and stretches in both directions, which covers adult sizes comfortably. It is not a tight technical fit.

Can I breathe through it properly?
Yes. The knit is breathable, which is why it works pulled up over the mouth while you are moving rather than only as a neck warmer.

Does it lose its stretch over time?
Only if it is dried hot repeatedly. Hang drying preserves the spandex recovery for years.

Is it warm enough for real cold?
At 240 g/m² it is a solid mid-weight, good for wind and chill. In deep cold it works best as a layer under a hood rather than on its own.
